A brief biography.

Gerritt grew up in Massachusetts, where he dropped out of high school to pursue his love of Shakespeare and English History.  Since graduating from New York University with a BFA in drama, he has pursued a career directing plays in New York City.  Recently, he has shifted his focus to developing narrative content for interactive media and games.

Gerritt's work has been seen at the New York International Fringe Festival, Frigid Festival, EST/Youngblood, the Dreamscape Theater Co. amongst others.  He was a Resident Director during the 2009-2010 season at Ensemble Studio Theatre, and has created and performed with Dell Arte School of Physical Theater, The Drama League Director’s Festival, the Hangar Theater’s Lab Company, and breedingground’s Spring Fever Festival, where he devised and directed Simulacra: a modern myth, inspired by the writing of Joseph Campbell.

From 2004-2010, Gerritt was a member of the directing faculty at NYU's Playwrights Horizons Theater School, where he taught first year directing, mentored upper level student projects, and collaborated with the playwrighting program to develop and direct 3rd and 4th year student-written work.
